March 24, Kathmandu. Mega Bank Nepal Limited has started the payment service from QR code in the area by distributing QR code in commercial shops in Pokhara.


Revati Nepal, Executive Director of Nepal Rastra Bank, has launched the QR code service by purchasing goods from Ghampani Bazaar in Chipledhunga, Pokhara as well as shops in Lamachaur and Hemja.

Chief Director of Nepal Rastra Bank Pokhara Ishwori Prasad Bhattarai, Assistant Director Dhananjay Parajuli, State Chief of Mega Bank Nepal Limited Gyanendra Pant, Head of Market Department of the State Office Lekhnath Gautam and Deputy State Chief Rajendra Koirala were present on the occasion.

With this arrangement, consumers in Pokhara can easily pay the amount purchased through their mobile banking application through QR code, the bank said. According to the bank, Mega Bank is accelerating the expansion of QR code service in line with the policy of Nepal Rastra Bank to promote digital transactions and cashless transactions by gradually displacing cash transactions.

Mega Bank has stated that it is increasing day by day to attract businessmen and consumers as payment through QR code is quick, hassle free and secure and there is no charge for doing business.

The bank has been operating banking services based on new technology since its inception and with the objective of providing complete secure transactions to all its customers through digital medium, the bank has introduced technology based services such as tick banking, video account opening, WeChat-Pay, Chatbot.
